Sciabica’s Fall Harvest Olive Oil Review

sciabica olive oilA while back I discovered a great California olive oil producer called Sciabica’s.  I particularly like the fact that they press olives by variety and seasons. This keeps their olive oil pure from the trees to the bottle, with no mixing from different varieties or different oils. So it was with great anticipation that I ordered two bottles of Gourmet olive oil from them with the purpose of reviewing them. This review will cover the Sciabica’s Fall Harvest olive oil.

This bottle of Sciabica’s Fall Harvest is the Manzanillo Variety, 100% extra virgin olive oil, cold pressed and unrefined…my favorite kind! Obviously they offer other types of olive oil, including filtered, flavored and unfiltered as well as gift baskets, cookbooks, cosmetics and gourmet tomatoes. You’ll love shopping the Sciabica website, it’s easy to browse and the prices are reasonable.

When I first opened the bottle, I loved the rich amber color of the oil. It just looked like high quality olive oil. After I unpacked it from the shipping box, I couldn’t wait to try it, so I dabbed just a little on my finger. I wasn’t disappointed in the very least. I found the taste to be something of a delightful surprise. To me, the taste was a rich, full flavored nutty olive oil. Defineatly something that will kick up your recipes.

Next, I immediately went to the Kitchen and poured some of the oil in a saucer and started toasting some plain bread. I wanted to enjoy the richness of this oil without all the seasonings my Wife and I normally put on the bread, at least for now

I confirmed my first impressions of this oil with the first dip of the lightly toasted bread. I sit back and savored this robust oil until all the bread was gone.

My Wife thought the Sciabica’s Fall Harvest was good, but she was’t as crazy about it as I was. This didn’t surprise me that much, as her taste varies from mine quite a bit. I like full flavored foods while she tends to lean toward more delicate tastes. I was surprised though that she immediately thought of several recipes that she said she wanted to try this oil out on. This told me that she did like the oil quite a bit to think about using it in some of her favorite Italian recipes.

This oil is fast becoming one of my favorite oil of all time. I’ve been telling my readers for a long time that they should be paying more attentiion to California Olive Oil and now I have more proof! Am I getting ready to toss all the other brands I have? Certainly not! But I can guarantee you that I’ll give Sciabica’s olive oil a special place in my cabinet and will be more than willing to use it in my best recipes.

If you’re looking for a full, rich flavored robust olive oil, then give Sciabica’s Manzanillo Variety Fall Harvest a try. It would also make a great oil for you to try if you’ve never tried a true California olive oil. Go ahead, I think you’ll be greatly surprised!
